Training Overview:

Construction Contracting training will discuss construction industry topics with representatives from METCON Corporation. Metcon is a Native American-owned business (Lumbee) founded in 1999 in Pembroke, North Carolina. Metcon, which stands for (Metal and Construction), was conceived as a General Contractor specializing in panelized metal studs and truss. The firm is a full-service commercial general contracting operation.

The discussion will include topics such as:

  • Bidding procedures
  • Construction methods, project delivery
  • Prequalification
  • Minority participation and reporting requirements
  • Subcontractor bid requirements

The NC Department of Transportation's Office of Civil Rights will discuss the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification and services.

Projected Outcomes: High level understanding of doing business in the construction industry with the state of North Carolina.
